Publication Process

At Readings in Political Economy, every manuscript undergoes a structured and transparent editorial workflow designed to ensure quality, fairness, and academic integrity. All submissions are evaluated through a double-blind peer review process, where the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential.

Step 1: Manuscript Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts through the Journal’s online submission system. The submission should include all required files, including the manuscript, title page, abstract, keywords, declarations, and any supplementary materials.

Step 2: Initial Editorial Screening
The Editorial Office performs a preliminary assessment to verify that the manuscript complies with the Journal’s submission guidelines, ethical standards, formatting requirements, and publication policies. Manuscripts that do not meet these basic requirements may be returned to the authors for correction or declined before peer review.

Step 3: Editor Assignment
Suitable manuscripts are assigned to an Editor with relevant expertise. The assigned Editor evaluates the manuscript’s originality, scholarly quality, and suitability for peer review.

Step 4: Double-Blind Peer Review
Eligible manuscripts are sent to independent expert reviewers under a double-blind peer review system. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on originality, methodology, clarity, scholarly contribution, ethical compliance, and overall quality. Reviewer identities remain confidential throughout the process.

Step 5: Editorial Decision
After considering the reviewers’ recommendations, the Editor reaches one of the following decisions:
● Accept
● Minor Revision
● Major Revision
● Reject
The editorial decision is based solely on the academic merit and quality of the manuscript.

Step 6: Author Revision
If revisions are requested, authors should carefully address all reviewer comments and submit a revised manuscript together with a detailed response explaining the changes made.
Revised manuscripts may undergo additional editorial assessment or further peer review where necessary.

Step 7: Final Acceptance
Once the manuscript satisfactorily addresses all editorial and reviewer comments, it is formally accepted for publication. Authors may be requested to complete the required publication declarations before production begins.

Step 8: Copyediting and Typesetting
Accepted manuscripts undergo professional copyediting, language editing, formatting, and typesetting to ensure consistency with the Journal’s publication standards. Authors receive page proofs for final review before publication.

Step 9: Publication
The final version of the article is published on the Journal’s website under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license. Published articles become part of the permanent scholarly record.

Step 10: Indexing and Archiving
Following publication, articles are archived for long-term preservation and made available through the Journal’s website. Where applicable, articles are also submitted to indexing and abstracting services to maximize their visibility, accessibility, and scholarly impact.
